Davis Cup Schedule Between Indonesia Vs Pakistan Brought Forward
Jakarta, InfoPublik – The schedule of second round of Asia/Oceania Zone Group II Davis Cup between Indonesia and Pakistan is brought forward by three days due to Eid Holiday.
The match itself will be held at Tennis Stadium of GBK Senayan, Jakarta and was originally scheduled for July 17 to 19. However, the schedule was changed to 14-16 July 2015.
The Central Board of Indonesian Lawn Tennis Association (PP Pelti) has previously requested an application to the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to postpone the schedule up to three weeks. But the request was rejected.
"Initially we requested it to be delayed to 14 to 16 August, but it’s not approved. ITF even suggested that the game to be held in Singapore," said Indonesian tennis coach, Roy Therik in Jakarta, Monday (7/6).
He continued that initially Pakistan also refused schedule changes. Although Pakistan is a country with a Muslim majority, but the celebration of Eid Fitr there is not as big as Eid al-Adha.
Mr. Therik added, to be competing before Eid is a disadvantage for Indonesian team since most likely crowd support will be reduced
He also requested his team to focus on each game. "50-50. I do not want to put too much pressure on my team,” he said.
